Galaxy Doll's First Dozen, Plus One

In this post I will showcase the first twelve amigurumi's in my shop, plus one extra which was a special request.

The first Ami is BBC's "Sherlock", an updated incarnation of Conan Doyle's masterpiece.
I don't normally go in for modern remakes, and when I first started watching season one I was convinced I would hate it.
Cell phones? In Sherlock? PUH-lease. *eye roll*
But I was drawn in by the awesome cinematography, and how well the actors actually...acted.
It was great!
...and then came the two year hiatus for season three and what else was I supposed to do?
Crochet a mini Sherlock, of course. ^_^

And NO collection is complete without a Yoda.
Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen a SciFi collection which lacked this wise-cracking, backwards-babbling green glob.
Because even though the Muppet was lumpy and fuzzy and should, by all accounts, be considered ugly, for some reason people can't get enough of him.
So, here's my take on the popular Jedi master:

And Spiderman:

Batman, who I originally wanted to make in an all-black Bat suit (from the Nolan-verse), but, well... black-on-black crochet doesn't show up too well.
So, classic Batman:

A Dalek (Doctor Who) and Frodo Baggins (Lord of the Rings):

So would a Dalek try to take The Ring if it gave them
supreme rule? How would they even WEAR it?

Doctor Who's Tenth and Eleventh Doctors (or 11th and 12th, depending on which side you're on. But let's not go there...).
Confession: I was a total Doctor Who HATER: the cheesy story lines, the over-the-top acting, the complete silliness of the aliens...I would roll my eyes and laugh any time I heard the words "TARDIS" or "Doctor" (except, of course, when someone was talking about a real-life medical doctor...I swear, I don't laugh at surgeons).
But then a certain family member forced me to watch it under threat of bodily harm.
Okay, maybe under threat of name-calling.
...or y'know, they might've actually asked nicely....but the point is I watched it and have liked it since.
It's quirky.
It's not hard-core SciFi, but more of a fantasy.
And once I thought of it as such, I could totally dig it.

Awesome hair, guys.

And my personal favorites, the Star Trek captains.
Kirk, Picard, Sisko, and Janeway. You can't really go wrong by crocheting a few Star Trek characters because the fan base is HUGE. Huge, like people are dressing their newborns in little Starfleet uniforms.
Or their dogs.
Or themselves.
And I should know- I grew up with Star Trek. I was one of the minority of kids who saw "The Wrath of Kahn" before I could even spell Kahn. Or Wrath. Or much of anything, really.
(I still stink at spelling, but now I blame autocorrect).
I remember sneaking out of bed at 10:00pm to watch "Voyager" on UPN.
Oh what a rebel, I was. Haha.
So, yeah......Star Trek will be a regular theme in my shop.

You know you've always wanted to see them all together.
Well, here you go. You're welcome.
And one item not in the shop, a "Moe Szyslak" doll from the cartoon "The Simpsons."
This was a special request a couple months back, and I'm happy with the way he turned out:

I am currently working on another special request, which I will cover in an upcoming post later this week!
